You’ll find the best and most quintessential Eid cookies here that just scream Eid in every bite. And the best part is that they’re all absolutely perfect for Eid!
If you don’t know, Muslims celebrate Eid twice a year, once right after the Holy month of Ramadan. During Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn to sunset and break it with iftar – if you’re fasting and looking for some good recipes, my Ramadan iftar menu is ideal for you.
The other Eid, known as Eid al-Adha, commemorates the sacrifice of Abraham and the completion of the pilgrimage to Mecca.
Muslims enjoy a lot of Eid recipes during their celebrations, including some delicious Eid cookies. And today I’ll be sharing with you all the recipes that I’ve collected over a decade of running this blog.
I’m sure you’re going to be saving more than a few of these!
Excited? Let’s get started!
KAHK COOKIES – THE MOST FAMOUS EID COOKIES
Kahk cookies are the quintessential Eid cookies all over the Middle East, especially in Egypt, and for a good reason!
They’re round, buttery cookies that have the most delicious melt-in-the-mouth texture ever!
The incredibly fine, and light texture of these cookies is incredible and will have you wanting more!
What’s best is that these delicious Kahk cookies are usually stuffed with some of the tastiest fillings ever!
This makes them incredibly versatile, so you can easily customize them for your loved ones.
MA’AMOUL
Maamoul Cookies are Middle Eastern cookies filled with dates and pistachio. They’re mostly prepared on special occasions like Eid and during Ramadan.
The taste and texture of Maamoul cookies are similar to shortbread. You can find these cookies in Middle Eastern bakeries almost all the time.
You can fill the cookies with dates, pistachios, almonds, or a mixture of dates and pistachios.
I grew up enjoying these cookies because they are super delicious. Plus, it’s quite easy to make them at home too!
BARAZEK
Barazek are the most delicious cookies with a buttery crunchy texture and a serious sesame flavor!
When you bite into them, they absolutely melt in your mouth and will leave you wanting more!
These delicious sweets have a beautiful deep golden color with a sesame seed mixture on one side and crushed pistachios on the other.
It’s truly a treat to enjoy these cookies. And the best part is that despite seeming like they’re difficult to make, these cookies are incredibly easy to whip up!
These cookies are, by far, one of the most delicious things you’ll ever try. You’ll try one and then won’t be able to stop eating. Yes, they’re that good!
GHRAYBEH (MIDDLE EASTERN BUTTER COOKIES)
Ghraybeh, or sometimes you can find it written as Ghorayeba, is a Middle Eastern Cookie. These cookies melt in your mouth, with fine texture, delicate, and delicious.
With only three ingredients, Ghraybeh is the easiest, egg-free cookie that will impress your family and guests.
You can garnish Ghorayeba with pistachios, almonds, or you can skip the nuts and bake it plain.
They’re one of the best cookies for Eid!
LEBANESE DATE COOKIES
These Lebanese date cookies are to die for! They have the most perfect texture and a flavor you just can’t eat.
The homemade date filling in these cookies has the perfect blend of light aromatic spices that take its flavor to the next level. With a delicious ghee-based dough, they’ll melt in your mouth as soon as you put them in!
They’re, by far, one of the most delicious Date Cookies out there and are known as Kleicha in Arabic. Once you try them once, I’m sure they’ll become your absolute favorite!
These Date Cookies are the quintessential holiday cookies for people across the Middle East. They’re incredibly popular for Muslims to make and have during Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.
Christians in the Middle East, on the other hand, enjoy these cookies in particular during Easter and Christmas, truly making these holiday cookies that everyone loves.
ŞEKERPARE
Şekerpare are delicious Turkish cookies, made using semolina, flour, and sugar, then soaked with a lemon-sugar syrup. The syrup gives them an incredible flavor and texture that you’ll fall in love with!
They’re the most popular dessert in Turkey after baklava, and for a good reason! These ‘pieces of sweetness’ taste delectable and are an absolute classic. The incredibly crumbly and moist texture of these cookies will make you want to have more of them.
‘Şeker’ means sugar in Turkish, while ‘pare’ means pieces, so the name of these cookies Şekerpare literally translates to a piece of sweetness in Turkish. They’re pronounced as sheh-kehr-pah-reh.
They’re widely enjoyed as part of an Iftar menu during Ramadan, but especially for Eid ul-Fitr.
In Turkey, Eid ul-Fitr is known as Şeker Bayramı or the Sugar Feast, and so these cookies are the perfect addition to the table on that day!
OTHER EID COOKIES TO TRY
Apart from the traditional Middle Eastern cookies, there are many other delicious ones you can make for Eid as part of your cookie platter.

MELTING MOMENTS
Melting Moments or melt-in-your-mouth cookies are one of the most sophisticated and delicate cookies I ever made.

PALETS BRETONS
Palets Bretons are French butter biscuits. You can make them crispy or a little cakey. They are easy to make and require six simple ingredients, no mess, and no hassle.
They look incredible and also great delicious which makes them one of the best cookies for Eid.
SUGAR COOKIES
Sugar cookies are always welcome for any holiday, including Eid. These cookies melt in your mouth!
They are not all sugar and no flavor cookies like those sold in the stores. Instead, you get to taste the butter, vanilla, and chocolate, and the sweetness is not overwhelming.
SNICKERDOODLES
This Snickerdoodles recipe is foolproof and will give you pillowy soft cookies that are a true American classic!
You’ll end up with fluffy, puffed-up cookies that are soft and have an almost cake-like texture. The outside is crunchy, tastes like cinnamon, and will leave you wanting more.
BUTTERSCOTCH CHIP COOKIES
These butterscotch cookies are my all-time favorite, and they make a great gift. Whenever my friends open the box and experience these cookies’ awesome aroma, they give me a big smile.
