I have included tips to make this recipe easy to follow, and it comes out perfect every time you make it.
❤️ WHY YOU’LL LOVE THIS RECIPE
- Easy to prepare with simple ingredients.
- Juicy and delicious patties.
- Go well with burger buns, mashed potatoes, or homemade coleslaw.
📝 INGREDIENTS
Ground beef - It's best to have some amount of fat in the ground beef. It will make it juicier and taste much better when grilled. You can also do a mix of beef and lamb.
Spring onion - The spring onion flavor is stronger in burger patties than when using regular onion.
Soy sauce - Go for low sodium to have control over the seasoning.
Toasted sesame oil - A lot of flavor will come from sesame oil, so make sure it is toasted.
Other seasonings - Garlic, ginger, and onion powder add a lot of flavor.
🔪 HOW TO MAKE IT
Step 1
In a large bowl, add all the ingredients except the beef. Mix well.
Step 2
Add the beef and mix well, do not over-mix.
Step 3
Form three equal size patties and refrigerate them for 15 minutes.
Step 4
Heat the grill or the pan if you cook it over the stove.
Step 5
Cook for 5 minutes or less if you like medium rare. Serve with mashed potatoes, caramelized onion, or in a burger bun with toppings.
👩🏽🍳 PRO TIPS
- The burger is done when it feels firm, and the inside temperature reaches 160F.
- Do not cut the burger or poke it to know if it is done, this will drain the juices, and you will end up with a dry burger.
- Using an iron skillet is best if you cook the burger on a stovetop.
- Add two tablespoons of crushed crackers or breadcrumbs to the burger mix to hold in the juices.
🍽️ HOW TO SERVE IT
You can serve the burger with mashed potatoes or burger buns and pickles, mayo, ketchup, and chopped vegetables like tomato and onion as toppings.
🌡️ STORING
You can freeze the cooked patties by wrapping each one in plastic wrap and placing them in the freezer for 2 months.
To heat the frozen burger, spray a skillet with some oil. Place the frozen burger on the heated pan and cook on medium-low heat.

Asian Beef Burger
Ingredients
- 400 gram ground beef
- ¼ cup chopped spring onion
- 2 teaspoon soy sauce low sodium
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon toasted sesame oil
- ½ teaspoon ginger powder
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix all the ingredients except the beef.
- Add the beef and mix well, but don't over-mix, or the burger will be tough.
- Make 3 equal patties, and make an indent with your thump in the middle of each patty; this will make it cook evenly and will keep its shape.
- Refrigerate for 15 minutes.
- Heat your pan/grill; if the pan is hot enough the patties will not stick. I used non stick pan.
- Cook for 5 minutes on each side. (This really depends on you, if you like it medium rare cook for 3 minutes on each side).

Love that you served the burger on potatoes instead of a bun! I'm a well done girl when it comes to burgers, but with steak it's all about medium rare for me!

The burger tasted better with the mashed potato, and it kept me full for long time. I like my steak medium rare but only when the steak is not too thick 🙂

The patty reminds me of a type of street burger I used to have years ago. They split open the pre-made patty and tossed in soy sauce, white pepper and some added seasoning then closed it back up while it grilled. The buns were grilled too. It was so goooood!

I love street food, something is magical about it, although my mom was always against it!

How delicious. I'm sure this smelled irresistable as it cooked. Lots of lovely flavour to add to the beef, particularly the soy and the sesame oil.
