Baked Crusted Salmon Flaky, Crisp, Treat

Baked Crusted Salmon – Turn salmon fillet into a great dinner quickly. This an easy and impressive seafood dish; it is full of flavor from the blend of spices, butter, and olive oil. Make crusted salmon for busy weeknights or even on special occasions! Serve it with mashed potatoes or parboiled rice and salad.

It is a healthier option to bake the salmon in the oven to use less fat and consume fewer calories, and if you follow my recipe, the salmon will come out juicy and flavorful. You can use salmon with or without skin; the result will always be a delicious flaky salmon your family will enjoy!

INGREDIENTS FOR BAKED CRUSTED SALMON

A blend of herbs: There are a few aromatic herbs like oregano and sage, garlic powder, onion powder, and parsley.

Butter and olive oil: I have used two different fats for flavor and richness.

Bread crumbs: I have used regular bread crumbs, but for extra crispy salmon, you can go for Panko.

Salmon: You can use salmon with or without skin. It’s up to your liking.

🔪 HOW TO MAKE CRUSTED SALMON

A few minutes are what you need to prepare this rewarding and delicious dish. Let’s have a look at how to make it.

Step 1:

Mix the herbs in a small bowl and keep aside. Preheat your oven to 400F/ 190C, and Line a sheet pan with aluminum foil or parchment paper.

Step 2:

Mix breadcrumbs with ½ teaspoon of the mixed herbs and melted butter. Brush both sides of the salmon with olive oil and season with salt.

Step 3:

Sprinkle the seasoned breadcrumbs on top of the salmon and gently press. Place the salmon on the baking sheet, crust side up, and bake for 12 – 15 minutes, depending on how thick the salmon fillet is.

  • You can go for the herbs you prefer instead of what is mentioned in the recipe.
  • Pat the salmon dry before seasoning it.
  • You can use only but or only olive oil for this recipe.
  • Check the expiry date of the herbs used in the herb mixture.
  • If you want to use salmon with skin, keep the skin side down.
  • You can use fresh parsley in the herb mixture.
  • Preheat the oven for at least 20 minutes before baking. 
  • Cover the salmon loosely with aluminum foil if the crust is getting brown quickly.

📖 DELICIOUS VARIATIONS

This recipe for crusted salmon will give you delicious flaky salmon. But if you’re looking to change things up and add your touch, you can try these variations:

Add heat: Season the salmon with cayenne pepper.

Panko Breadcrumbs: Use Panko instead of breadcrumbs.

Parmesan cheese: Mix a tablespoon of parmesan cheese with the herb mixture.

Gluten-free: Use gluten-free bread crumbs.

How long it takes to bake crusted salmon?

When the salmon is baked or roasted in a properly preheated oven, it should take around 15 minutes to cook. However, cooking time depends on how thick the salmon fillet is.

Can I fry crusted salmon?

Yes, you can fry crusted salmon in a skillet, but it is healthier to roast or bake it in the oven to use less fat and save on calories.

What do you serve with crusted salmon?

Side dishes that you can try with salmon are rice and mashed potatoes are great when served with crusted salmon, but you can go the healthier way and serve it with salad. Or serve with lemon wedges.

Fridge: You can store any leftovers in the fridge in an airtight container for up to two days.

Freezer: I don’t recommend freezing crusted salmon. The flavor will be different, and so is the texture.

Ingredients

THE HERB BLEND

  • 2 tablespoon dried parsley
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
