Irish Soda Bread
Crispy crust but moist from the inside, this bread is quick to make and is great with butter or jam.

Ingredients
1 ½
cup
all-purpose flour
1
teaspoon
sugar
¼
teaspoon
salt
¼
teaspoon
baking soda
1
teaspoon
baking powder
1
tablespoon
melted butter
1
medium size egg
¼
cup
buttermilk
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350F/180C.
In a bowl, combine the dry ingredients.
In a different bowl, beat the egg with buttermilk.
Gradually pour the liquid mixture into the flour, stirring with a spatula.
The dough will be moist. Dust your hands with flour and knead for 6 seconds only.
Dough will still be sticky.
Dust your hands again and place the dough in lightly floured baking sheet.
Shape the dough into a round loaf that’s 2 inch high.
Dip a knife in flour and make a cross sign which is 1 ½ inch deep.
Sprinkle flour on top of the dough, and bake for 25 – 30 minutes.
