You know by now how crazy I am about everything sweet potato. Sweet potato raisin and honey is a popular side dish. At home and at times, we have it as part of our breakfast. It is a tasty side and I don’t have enough words to describe how awesome it tastes.

I made a baked version sometimes back, but I like this version more. I have used raisins but you can omit it if you are not fond of it. You can use different nuts instead, or even sprinkle shredded coconuts. It depends on your taste and liking.

Making Sweet Potato Raisin Honey

To make this side dish Vegan, replace the honey with raw sugar and instead of butter use oil. I have tried both vegan and non-vegan versions and the taste is almost the same. Make sure you buy a good quality sweet potato, it makes a difference.

If you want to go wild, add a scoop of vanilla ice cream and enjoy a mind-blowing treat. Turning this side to a dessert is easy. Do not overdo it though, you are supposed to enjoy the flavor of sweet potato mixed with a blend of warm spices.

I am a fan of sweet potatoes and while I am not sure if I would like the raisin component of this, it sounds wonderful! I usually do a bit of brown sugar with my sweet potatoes but I think I might like this even more.

It's funny I have come across this recipe because it is only recently that I've discovered how wonderful sweet potato is in sweet dishes (Go figure haha). This sounds like a delicious treat to have. I recently added cocoa to sweet potato and was surprised at how sweet the potato actually was. Definitely a favourite of mine.

Sweet potatoes and raisins! What's not to like? Going to swap the butter for coconut oil and the honey for agave! Heaven! =D

I am not a big fan of sweet potatoes in general. But as a flavor for other dishes or breads or pies I can imagine that it would be great. I would love to try out some of those other recipes.
