Sticky Cinnamon Rolls with Pecans

cinnamon roll
I have made few changes to the original recipe since it took a lot of time in and out of the kitchen. The rolls taste great, and can be a very impressive breakfast for your loved ones.

The dough is easy to work with and after the rolls are baked, they turn fluffy and light, yet holding all the flavor from the cinnamon and butter. The caramel sauce with pecan, just heavenly.

If you want a more intense flavor make the rolls smaller in size, this will allow the rolls to take more from the caramel sauce and pecan.

Don’t let the long ingredients list and steps scare you away, you’ll be mixing all the ingredients together so quickly you won’t even notice.

Ingredients for dough:
1/4 cup warm milk
1 tablespoon dry yeast
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 3/4 cup all purpose flour
2 tablespoons sugar
3 eggs
3/4 cup butter
2 pinches salt
1/4 cup water

Ingredients for filling:
3 teaspoons cinnamon powder
3/4 cup sugar
Mix together well. Keep aside

Ingredients for bottom of rolls:
3/4 cup butter
3/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 cup pecans
Mix together butter and sugar, spread on the bottom of the baking
pan.
Spread the pecans on top of the previous mixture.

To make the dough:
  • Mix together sugar, milk, water, eggs, and vanilla.
  • In a separate bowl, mix 2 and half cups from the flour with salt, add butter and rub together using your hands.
  • Add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients and mix. You’ll have a very sticky dough. Cover and let it rise in a warm place.
  • When the dough rises, add the rest of flour and knead for 5 – 7 minutes. Cover and let rise again.
  • Dust working surface with flour and roll the dough, it should be 1/4 inch high. Sprinkle the filling and fold to make a log.
  • Wrap the log in plastic wrap or aluminum foil and refrigerate for 20 minutes. This will help in cutting the log.
  • Cut the log in one inch or thinner slices and place on top of the pecans.
  • Cover and keep aside for 15 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 400F/200C.
  • Bake the rolls for 30 minutes on the middle rack.
  • When done, turn the rolls upside down on to a serving plate and serve.
